

This is the largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet. It houses a large meditation hall with beautiful statues and thangkas (Tibetan painting), as well as the Kalachakra temple with beautiful murals. It is the monastery of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and is located in front of his residence. The Namgyal Café is located in the basement of the complex, which is run as a work-training center for Tibetan youth.

The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) was set up for preservation and promotion of Tibet’s performing arts. Established in 1959, four years after the arrival of the Dalai Lama in India, TIPA is a vibrant and creative institute. Comprising of several members, including artistes, instructors, administrative staff and craftsmen, they work with a clear sense of direction towards the preservation of ancient Tibetan culture. Showcasing the arts, stage performances of traditional Tibetan dance, music, and theater are held during the several festivals and events.
Bhagsunag Falls offers a spectacular sight of cascading water set against lush landscape. The approach to the falls is lined with stones. It is located at a distance of 11kms from Dharamsala and is easily approachable by road from Mcleodganj. Although a slightly tedious approach, there is a clearly marked path which leads to the falls. The vicinity also has an ancient temple and numerous slate quarries.
