

Perched at an altitude of 3,979m, Rohtang Pass is the highest point on the Manali-Keylong Road. Owing to the elevation, the popular tourist attraction, experiences low temperatures even in summers. During winter, the road to Rohtang Pass remains closed. The attraction provides a panoramic view of mountains rising far above clouds, a sight truly breathtaking. Close by is a small lake called Dassaur Lake. Beas Kund, the source of river Beas, is also nearby.
Around 3 km from Manali, across the Beas river is Vashist, a small village with natural sulphur springs, which are well-known for their therapeutic properties. Vashist, also boasts a pair of old stone temples, which face each other above the main square. Dedicated to the local patron saint Vashista, the smaller of the two opens on to a partially covered courtyard, and is adorned with elaborate woodcarvings. The carvings that line the interior of the shrine, although blackened by soot from the lamps and incense smoke, are particularly fine. The temple tanks are underground hot-water/sulfur springs.
Popularly known as Snow Point, Solang Valley is 13kms northwest of Manali and is famous for its 300m ski lift. It is a picturesque spot and offers splendid views of glaciers and the snow-capped mountains. Jagatsukh, the former capital of Manali, is also an important spot.
It is an ancient temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, who was a character in the Indian epic, Mahabharata. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest at the foot of the Himālayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground, which was worshiped as an image of the deity. The structure was built in the year 1553.
A must-do activity, if you are here during summer. Famous for skiing in winters, the Solang Valley is also a Zorbing hotspot of India, in the summer months. Zorbing, a popular outdoor sport in New Zealand, uses an orb - an inflatable PVC ball, which is rolled down gentle grass covered slopes.
The lush green slopes in the valley are ideal to enjoy the sport of Zorbing.
Solang offers a vast snow field and one of the best slopes skiing and is famous for its 300-meter ski lift. Available only during the winter (Jan-Mar), the sport is attracting hordes of tourists to these spectacular mountains.
Get rejuvenated after a relaxed bath in the hot water springs which are known to have therapeutic properties. Modern bath rooms, with Turkish-style showers, have hot water piped into them for the convenience of the visitors.
The pagoda-styled temple leaves one awestruck with its architecture, which is hardly in-sync with its context to the epic - Mahabharata. This ancient temple surrounded by a cedar forest which add to the beauty of this temple.
